I’m starting a new series of posts called, Animals from Seven Continents. I will be starting with Africa and each week, I’ll post one or two posts containing facts about the animals, sound files, picture matching games, ideas for other activities and more. Some things will be too advanced for toddlers and some preschoolers but they should be able to do most of it especially the older preschoolers. For toddlers, probably just seeing pictures, hearing sounds and learning some of the basic words would be enough. Some of the vocabulary might be more appropriate for children in kindergarten and up. I’m interested in many types of animals and I like to share this interest and love for animals with children which is what inspired these posts. I hope you enjoy them.
I started the Play2Grow blog to network with other childcare providers. I’m currently working on my masters in early childhood studies with a concentration in administration and management. I’m a preschool teacher working with children from ages two and a half to five. I've been a volunteer in the infant and toddler rooms which was a great experience. I’ve had several part-time jobs at other childcare centers and have completed an internship in 2009. I have a bachelors degree in mental health and human services and certifications in child development and infant/toddler orientation. I enjoy working with children and planning creative activities for them. I believe that play is the best way for them to learn.
On a personal note, I have two spoiled cats. I spend a lot of time on the computer either writing entries for the blog, finding articles for my animal related Pawlog twitter feed or reading random things that I find. I enjoy the outdoors as well. If you have any comments or questions, E-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
