Here's a video of babies who are playing together. they are starting to develop social skills even at this early stage. Here is the link to the original post with the video by Janet Lansbury. She promotes allowing babies to explore and play on their own and respecting the feelings of even the youngest babies.
At the center where I work, we try to let the babies interact as much as possible. I notice that with Baby L and Baby C, they learn from each other a lot through immitation and a little friendly competition. they always want to do what the other is doing and they are so interested in each other.
Here's an outdoor preschool in Norway. I've never seen these types of preschools before, but the concept is neat and the children learn a lot. It's great to connect them with nature since it's something that most of today's kids miss out on. Click here to watch the video. Embedding is disabled with this video which is why I don't have it directly on this page.
I remembered this video from a few years ago. I lost the url, but just found it again. One Idea I had was every week or two, I could post a video to the blog that I enjoy. Most of them would probably be cute, but I'm sure I'll find some interesting news clips or imformative videos as well.
Here's a cute video of a baby laughing while father makes funny sounds.
I started the Play2Grow blog to network with other childcare providers. I’m currently working on my masters in early childhood studies with a concentration in administration and management. I’m a preschool teacher working with children from ages two and a half to five. I've been a volunteer in the infant and toddler rooms which was a great experience. I’ve had several part-time jobs at other childcare centers and have completed an internship in 2009. I have a bachelors degree in mental health and human services and certifications in child development and infant/toddler orientation. I enjoy working with children and planning creative activities for them. I believe that play is the best way for them to learn.
On a personal note, I'm a mom to a wonderful daughter and have two spoiled cats.
